Up-and-coming designer Bianca Saunders has made her Paris Fashion Week debut with a collection for autumn/winter 2022. Entitled “A STRETCH”, the designer brought her London team to the Palais de Tokyo to present the evolution of her contemporary, minimalist menswear.
The British Andam Award winner is showing for the first time at Paris Fashion Week: “I can’t believe I’m doing my first show – and it’s in Paris! It’s a milestone for me!”. The collection he is presenting includes timeless designs that redefine the concept of masculinity. “I want the collection to be timeless: it could be now, it could be the past, it could be the future. It’s not just about one person: I want everyone to see a part of themselves in it.”
The “A STRETCH” collection brings together tailoring, technical garments and denim: “I’m exploring how to contour the shape around the male body; exaggerating certain parts of the body through illusion. My clothes reveal themselves when they move,” is the way he put it. “It’s not about one type of man, it’s about people of different ages who feel confident, stylish and attractive. Feeling attractive is a big point for me. Comfort and feeling at home.”
The show starts with a total look of plaid in three-dimensional movement; gathered waist, shoulders close to the neck. As for the trousers, the distorted pattern is inverted to suggest movement at the waist. In short, it creates a silhouette unknown in the world of men’s fashion, but one that anyone could wear. In addition, black, white, red, electric blue and ochre leather flood throughout Bianca Saunders‘ FW22 collection.
