C. Tangana celebrates the fifth anniversary of his classic “Avida Dollars” with a re-release of the album and the release of a new single, “Estrecho / Alvarado” featuring pablopablo.
The unpublished song is produced by pablopablo, son of Jorge Drexler, who also provides vocals with Pucho. The young promise had already collaborated previously with Pucho as he accompanied him during the tour ‘Sin Cantar ni Afinar Tour’. The title of the new track “Estrecho / Alvarado” refers to the two neighborhoods of Madrid where C. Tangana lived at the beginning of his career. It’s a melancholic and nostalgic look into the past, serving as a reminder of his journey from Crema to becoming El Madrileño.
The 2018 release served as an important turning point in C. Tangana’s career and for Spanish rap in general. Bringing together some of the most important Spanish producers of the moment (Steve Lean, Lost Twin, Danni Ble, Enry-K) with international references such as Colombians Sky and The Rudeboyz, an ideal sonic atmosphere was created that allowed C. Tangana to unleash the versatility that has since become his personal hallmark.
The project is a collection of songs that have become timeless tracks, with iconic singles such as “Llorando en la Limo”, (2x Platinum in Spain, 3x Platinum in Chile, Platinum in Argentina and Gold in Mexico) which remains one of the most emblematic tracks of his career and of recent Spanish rap. “Cuando me miras” is Disco de Oro in Spain and Chile and has continued to shine with the passage of time. C. Tangana does not lose sight of the future, but allows himself to stop and look back to celebrate this unique project.
