Camper combines office life and outdoor activity in its latest collection

Camper explores eclectic creativity, mixing the codes of office life with those of outdoor activity.

Aware of a world in which the concepts of work and leisure have changed, the Camper Fall/Winter 2022-2023 collection explores an eclectic creativity, mixing the aesthetic codes of office life with those of outdoor activity.

The collection fluctuates between a humorous take on office footwear – with the multicoloured Twins loafers and two-tone Junction wallabees – and technical, unconventional inspiration with Ground adventure trainers and Milah Tencel high boots. In between the two extremes are the brightly coloured Bonnie ankle boots, perfect for everyday city wear, or the elegant but rebellious Mil-1978 Oxfords.

“I had never worked in an office before Camper. Its atmosphere fascinates me,” says Achilles Ion Gabriel, artistic director. “At the same time, many of us now enjoy a flexibility that allows us to work from previously unimaginable places, which blurs the boundaries between formal and casual. That’s what I want to explore this season.”

Inspired by nature, the colour palette mixes winter shades such as Robie, Sage, dark blue, black and grey with pops of office blue, post-it yellow or binder red.

Three new collaborations complete the season’s catalogue. Two new models are born from the laminate of Berlin-based ready-to-wear brand Ottolinger. Meanwhile, the iconic Pelotas Ariel, Peu Cami and Wabi are reinterpreted by Danish textile innovator Kvadrat. Wabi is also the subject of a special edition, in association with Mallorcan degenerative wool producer Llanatura.

As always, technical advances are integral to the design and, this season, include GORE-TEX waterproofing; a Primaloft membrane to retain warmth; and Michelin and Vibram outsoles for grip. Bamboo fibre, wool linings and rubber toe caps contribute to flexibility, softness and comfort.

These innovations are accompanied by Camper‘s sustainable philosophy, which prioritises waste reduction and durable, certified materials such as vegetable tanned leather; recycled wool; organic cotton and cellulose-based fabrics such as Tencel and bamboo. New materials and techniques are added to the existing ones this season such as Ozette undyed leather, which dispenses entirely with hazardous chemicals during its manufacturing process. Or discarded leather scraps, recycled and reused in patchworks and cut-outs.

Finally, the brand introduces a new carbon-neutral and vegan material made from rice husks, making this Camper‘s most sustainable collection to date.
