Cannabis may protect you against COVID-19

A study conducted by Oregon State University claims that the properties of hemp may be effective against COVID-19 and prevent its infection.

This has been published in the Journal of Natural Products after discovering the usefulness of a chemical extracted from cannabis plants in protecting human cells against the coronavirus.

These are cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) found in hemp. Both substances, by binding to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, are able to prevent infection in humans.

“Cell entry inhibitors, such as hemp acids, could be used to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection and also to shorten infections by preventing virus particles from infecting human cells,” says Dr Richard van Breemen.

However, this discovery does not ensure that by smoking cannabis you are safe from infection. The key is to ingest the aforementioned hemp compounds orally, either in pill or liquid form.

And speaking of COVID-19… Did you know that Nike has fired unvaccinated employees?
