Solid, consistent, reliable: Carhartt WIP’s latest editorial focuses on a facet of the FW21 collection that looks very much like its predecessors. After all, the brand’s “icons” rarely change, and that’s what it’s all about.
Built around key styles that have been synonymous with Carhartt WIP since its earliest days, the garments feature triple-stitch detailing, diamond quilted linings and robust fabrics built to last.
The brand’s famous Dearborn Canvas is featured here in “aged” and “weathered” treatments. The former is done using a laser process to give the garments a slightly worn look; while the “weathered” treatment is a combination of dyeing and stonewashing, to give the feel of a cherished jacket that has been worn for years.
Other pieces, meanwhile, reinterpret these core elements of the brand‘s identity. The OG Arctic Coat, for example, is inspired by a vintage Double Knee trouser with the knee panel removed; revealing a tonal colour differentiation that nods to the essence of these garments as they take on their own character over time. This two-tone motif is repeated on the sweatshirts, trousers and overalls, while there is also an apron and cushion that are part of the Gadgets FW21 range.
The Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2021 collection is available now at Carhartt WIP shops, selected international retailers and carhartt-wip.com.
