CLOT partners with cult brand Dr. Martens to reimagine the iconic 1461 shoe through a remix of identities and symbologies that elevate the union between East and West.
This collaboration draws on the 60th anniversary of the 1461, which has been reinvented by countless collaborators such as Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, and Bodega in recent months. Now, it’s the turn of Edison Chen and Kevin Poon’s creative team.
The new iteration is defined by the CLOT aesthetic, with signature red tones running through the silhouette, from the tonal stitching to the vibrant sole. Martens retains its black leather upper, which contrasts with the bright red sole – a color that now carries several meanings. CLOT, influenced by Chinese culture, associates it with youth, luck, and fortune, while for Martens it represents the irrepressible spirit of youth culture.
The collaborative signature red-accented insole, dressed in the silk-inspired print associated with CLOT, completes the design of the 1461, which will go on sale through the JUICE Store and the Dr. Martens website on May 29th.
