Amara Caruncho Ledo, Galician designer and creator of Coconutscankill, was crowned the winner of the fifth edition of the Allianz Ego Confidence in Fashion at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.
The award, which recognizes and supports the talent of emerging designers in Spain, was granted after an evaluation by a jury composed of fashion industry professionals, including Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro, founder and creative director of the fashion house Dominnico and former prominent participant of the “Ego” circuit; Ana Rodríguez, director of this September 2023 edition of MBFW Madrid; Andrés Aberasturi, curator of the Allianz Ego catwalk; and Maruca García Paredes, director of the Fashion Area of UDIT – University of Design and Technology, formerly known as Esne.
As part of the award, Amara Caruncho Ledo will receive an economic endowment of 6,000 euros to finance a new fashion collection. She will also have the opportunity to present her designs at the upcoming February 2024 edition of MBFWMadrid’s Allianz Ego circuit and will receive business advice for 6 months from UDIT.
“Winning the award is the ultimate push for my brand”, shared Amara Caruncho Ledo, founder and creative director of emerging fashion label Coconutscankill. “We are at the perfect time and ready for this change”, she continued. “We want to continue to research and expand our collaboration with artisans for the use of new materials in our creations”.
On the other hand, Emeerree wins the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award.
