Irreverent, incisive and theatrical, the proposal establishes a dialogue between fashion, performance and transformation.
Mugler returns to the epicentre of cultural conversation with the second edition of “The House of Mugler”, a digital series that this time finds David Hoyle as its literal host. The performance artist acts as a guide and provocateur, leading the viewer through different architectural codes and the silhouettes that define Miguel Castro Freitas‘ first designs for the House: The Wardrobe of Identities SS26 Pre-Collection. A collection that reclaims the structural and sculptural essence that made Mugler synonymous with drama and power.
Admired for his ingenuity, his sporting spirit and his unique sense of glamour, Hoyle represents that tension between excess and lucidity that defines both his work and the essence of the Maison. The series unfolds in a sequence of short episodes, each focusing on a different theme on ‘how to wear Mugler’, with a bold, subversive and deliberately uncomfortable tone when necessary.
With a blend of sharp commentary, visual intensity and high-concept storytelling, The House of Mugler imbues each silhouette with a dimension that borders on the philosophical, understanding the garment as armour, manifesto and vehicle of identity.
‘Mugler has always revolved around metamorphosis and the value of existing beyond boundaries. This collaboration, in which I have had complete creative freedom, allows us to play in that space where fashion meets philosophy, humour meets political provocation, and the body becomes a battlefield for beauty,’ says David.
