Milan Fashion Week kicks off with one of the most eagerly awaited shows of the season: Diesel by Glenn Martens. We tell you all the details of the fashion house’s most sensual show to date.
The clues began to appear just a week ago, when guests at the show began receiving Durex condom wrappers signed by Diesel. Martens knows how to generate buzz. He had it all figured out for today’s show.
A mountain made of 200,000 condoms stood on a passion-red catwalk. The theme was clear: sex (but with protection, of course). The house’s classic denim was presented with more transparencies than ever, in keeping with the sensual spirit that dominates this season.
Leather jackets, ripped tops and printed denim became some of the key pieces in the collection, as did fun graphics with slightly subliminal “FOR SUCSEXFUL LIVING” messages. Vinyl ensembles printed with brightly smiling faces caused a stir in the crowd, while biker-inspired jackets made their way in to make it clear that motorcore is still on trend.
Last but not least, the denim knee-high boots and the new versions of the iconic 1DR bag, a must-have in any wardrobe.
