Dior’s Pre-Fall 2023 collection will be unveiled at the iconic ‘Gateway of India’ in Mumbai on 30 March.
Celebrating the power of global craftsmanship and the feminist values that have driven Dior‘s growth, Maria Grazia Chiuri will unveil her new proposal. This includes sari-inspired skirts that pay homage to the most traditional Indian silhouettes and pieces adorned with embroidery from Chanakya, a Mumbai-based atelier and craft school for women run by Karishma Swali who has previously worked in collaboration with the maison.
“For me, showing in India also means celebrating the heritage of Indian embroidery and its importance in the world of fashion,” says Chiuri. “I do this show out of love for this country and how much they support my creativity. It’s really something very personal,” she adds.
This action maintains the designer‘s commitment to making Dior a feminist brand in all its values. Since her arrival as creative director, she has collaborated with numerous women artists, photographers and craftswomen, giving them a voice through their projects.
