It is an initiative to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, the US non-profit organisation that grants wishes to children whose health conditions threaten their lives.
Disney’s ‘Create 100’ campaign has brought together some of the most important figures in the creative industries to launch its new project: to interpret the personal connection of each of them with the different Disney stories. Contributors from the worlds of film, music and art have been asked to contribute an object to the campaign to reach the 100 unique objects designed by the 100 creators proposed by ‘Create 100’, which will then be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to Make-A-Wish.
The first donated item is an artwork designed by ALASKA ALASKA and is a nostalgic multicoloured sculpture of Micky Mouse inspired by Virgil Abloh‘s illustrations for CHAOS Magazine, which was part of the character’s 90th anniversary in 2018.
“We wanted to bring to the world a work of art originally created by Virgil himself through innovative metalwork and craftsmanship, and allow Disney fans and future creatives to interact with the sculpture and be inspired by all that it represents,” says Athi Selvendran, Abloh‘s right-hand man for many years.
‘Create 100’ will feature major collaborators such as Beyonce, Christian Louboutin, Tommy Hilfiger and many others.
