Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro, creative director of DOMINNICO, presented yesterday at 4pm the LOVECROSS AW 2022/23 collection, as part of the official calendar of the 75th edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. With this proposal, the designer from Alicante returns to the Madrid catwalk after two seasons betting on the digital format.
DOMINNICO‘s front row was attended by some of the brand’s unconditional fans such as Madame de Rosa, Laura Vandall, Luna Ki, Sara Fructuoso, Irene Ferreiro, Carla Díaz, Albert Mullor, Sergio Momo, Africa Adalia, Alba Reche, Maria José Llergo… among others.
In LOVECROSS FALL 22/23, DOMINNICO dives into the origins of cyberpunk and grunge through silhouettes with aerodynamic lines and retro futurism as a common thread.
The proposal, impregnated with textures such as rubberised fabrics that coexist with tweed, lamé, mesh with rhinestones, laminates, taffetas, nenylon or 3D textured foams, is full of silhouettes among which long trench coats, evening dresses with asymmetrical necklines or impossible hair pieces stand out. The dark inspiration is represented with spiked applications, black leather and metallic details.
As for the colours, the firm, true to its aesthetic ideology, opts for primary and acid colours such as neon orange, fuchsia, lime and apple green or Klein blue, to contrast with white, black and silver.
DOMINNICO opted this time for the hybrid format, presenting an audiovisual project as an intro to the show, with futuristic aesthetics as a reference, created by Misato Studio and directed by the digital artist Andrei Warren. This teaser talks about the importance of sustainability through the intelligent technology of the leading ironing brand Rowenta, presenting a device that dries, cleans, purifies and irons the first piece that opens the show.
Two footwear brands from Alicante also collaborated in this fashion show: New Rock, presenting a collection of platform and rubberised shoes decorated with studs, elements that form part of LOVECROSS’s imaginary; and Cuplé, for which Rodríguez Lázaro has kept two of the house’s most emblematic models.
DOMINNICO also repeats its collaboration with the Spanish leather goods firm SURITT, creating three iconic bag models, with the brand’s isotype, made of leather in the colours of the proposal.
Another of the contributions to this show has been the artist CACHORRO LOZANO, with whom Domingo has created a capsule collection of T-shirts with a message, with the iconic typography of the author and the Y2K aesthetic with Swarovski crystal inlays.
