Eminem has spent $450k on an NFT

Eminem on Thursday bought one of the apes from Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the most successful non-fungible token projects. The rapper spent approximately $450,000 and has put the character on his Twitter profile.

Nicknamed the “EminApe”, BAYC GeeGazza sold the NFT for 123.45 ETh, which would be approximately $450,000. GeeGazza had long hoped the rapper would buy it from him. In November he posted on Twitter “I still think Eminem is destined to buy my BoredApeYC one day”.

The sale was secured by digital agency Six, which has previously worked with other artists in the NFT industry, including Wu-Tang Clan, Tycho and Galantis. It’s not Eminem’s first investment in NFT either: the rapper currently owns 15 NFTs in OpenSea under the name “Shady Holdings”.
