After captivating with the personal and moving single “Papá Dónde Estás”, Canarian singer, songwriter and actress Eva Ruiz takes another step forward in her musical career with the release of her new single “Amor Imposible”. Through Human Re Sources, a distributor that is part of Sony, the artist makes her first incursion into the English language in her music, drawing inspiration from her life experiences in what has become her second home, the city of Los Angeles. In addition, Eva collaborates on this track with one of the most prolific contemporary American R&B artists, Arin Ray.
“Impossible Love” resonates with the pain of a connection that could have blossomed had circumstances been different. Eva guides us through a distant world of idealized love, one that burns with intensity but remains perpetually out of reach. The song’s origin goes back to the artist’s own encounter in LA, where she experienced a deep connection that had to be severed upon her return to her homeland, the Canary Island of Lanzarote. “Impossible Love was one of the first songs I wrote when I arrived in Los Angeles. It was a very magical session. I remember as soon as Stox, the producer, played the first chords, I ended up improvising the whole melody of the song. Then I did the second verse in Spanish (in my version of impossible love) and I thought it would be nice, since I never sing in English, to have someone like Arin Ray, whom I have admired for a long time, sing it with me,” he tells us.
This impossible romance left an indelible mark on the Canarian artist, leading her to turn to music as a form of catharsis, creating this song as a means of healing. “Amor Imposible” resonates with an authentic, bittersweet flavor, portraying how the most meaningful love can sometimes be the most fleeting. The single also captures Eva’s personal growth as she sings about this poignant memory, infusing the lyrics with wisdom and restraint that come with retrospective contemplation, against a backdrop of haunting R&B instrumental.
