FKA twigs returns with “Cellophane” after 3 years of silence

The British singer returns with a new single and videoclip. “Cellophane” is the FKA’s most vulnerable song to date.

Three years of silence had to be broken by something very powerful. “Cellophane”, the new single by FKA twigs, breaks from the artist’s previous general line showing a new facet we hadn’t seen yet. The new sensations that the song produces give us a clue what we can expect from her next album.

The British singer returns with a new single and videoclip. “Cellophane” is the FKA’s most vulnerable song to date.

The song has been written by herself and is produced by herself in collaboration with Jeff Kleinman and Michael Uzowuru. In the videoclip, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, two different parts are distinguished. In the first half, the singer dances pole dance (she had to learn expressly to shoot this video) in an amber tones stage, providing a sensation of calm that breaks abruptly with the appearance of a winged mystic robot. From then on, the video adopts an impeccable chaotic nuance, but polished and extremely symbolic. “I had to go deeper, rebuild, start over”, says FKA twigs about this single.

“Cellophane” denotes an anguish not only visually, but also by the lyrics. You only have to listen to it to feel that FKA twigs has stripped her soul like never before, and that her new musical stage will be overwhelmingly deep, intense and sincere. Her world tour will begin in summer. Let’s remember that the singer will be at Primavera Sound on May 30th.
