Gucci Prospective is the latest initiative by the brand’s new creative director, combining art and fashion. It is a series of books that will accompany each of the collections presented by Sabato de Sarno. The first chapter of this series is ‘Gucci Prospettive 1, Milano Ancora’.
Every time a Gucci collection comes out, it will be accompanied by a publication. This has been decided by the brand’s new creative director, Sabato de Sarno, who wants to capture the ongoing synergies between fashion and art. Stefano Collicelli Cagol (PhD), director of the Luigi de Prato Contemporary Art Centre and former curator of the Rome Quadrennial (2018-2021), has been chosen to interpret the first chapter, Gucci Prospettive n.1, Milano Ancora.
This first book representing Stefano’s vision is a love letter to Milan. Inside, works of art intersect with literature, music, cinema, fashion and history, narrating fragments of the city’s cultural and artistic history from the post-war period to the present day. In a continuous relay, the participating artists describe Milan as a place of beauty and carnality and, beyond traditional narratives, imagine new spaces and selves.
The book includes works by Cristiano Rizzo, Martino Santori, Noura Tafeche and Valerio Eliogabalo Torrisi, selected by Sabato De Sarno in collaboration with the Accademia di Brera from among the recent graduates. The works were included in the publication and presented in a temporary gallery in Via Fiori Chiari 5, open to the public from 19 to 23 September. The book will be released with Sabato De Sarno’s first collection for Gucci, which will be presented on Friday 22 September in Milan.
