Dakota Johnson is the latest turning point in the celebrated chronology of this celebrated handbag line where a specific attitude and era converge, marking the beginning of a new chapter that is reflected in Gucci’s new campaign.
In the paparazzi-style images, the actress wears different versions of the iconic Jackie 1961 – each with its own personality depending on the perfect styling for the occasion – in everyday situations set in Los Angeles. The campaign, captured by Glen Luchford, pays homage to the bag’s illustrious origins while highlighting the intrinsic versatility and timeless elegance of its silhouette and reflecting a state of coexistence that stretches back decades and transcends diverse personalities.
Jackie 1961
Following a distinguished line of reiterations, all representative of its era, the new Jackie 1961 is born to transcend the traditional with its elegant silhouette and universal attitude. The selection is available in three different sizes – mini, small and medium – and in a wide range of colours that accentuate the model’s inherent versatility. Its polished lines highlight the piston closure and the quality of the material involved, be it natural grain leather, patent leather, precious leather or the iconic GG Supreme canvas. The removable shoulder strap, longer than previous versions and available in leather or chain, enhances the adaptable personality and functionality of the Jackie 1961.
The original model, introduced as its name suggests back in 1961, became a symbol of jet-set lifestyle in the 1960s and 1970s. Later, in 1999 and 2009, the iconic design incorporated new sensibilities inspired by contemporary intuition and attitude and continued to take on new, indefinable natures.
