HIGHCHART. #33 – Marcelo Pantani

We’re back with the Highchart section. This time we put ourselves in the hands of the DJ and producer who is defining the new clubber scene in Barcelona.

HIGHCHART. #33 – Marcelo Pantani

Marcelo Pantani reincarnates stories of a life on the run and an endless dance, of a night through the neon lights of nineties Rimini, of a stolen Giro, of hedonism as a means and not as an end, of extravagant soul and tragicomedy personified. His sound is forceful and energetic, exploring hypnotic rhythms, trance atmospheres, eurodance inspirations and 90s hard house.

An extrovert discourse that characterises his sessions and that has managed to infect venues such as Nitsa, Razzmatazz, Terrrazza, Laut, La Paloma (BCN), Club Malasaña (Madrid), Paradiso (Ibiza), Muelle (Bilbao) and Bonnefooi (Brussels) with his energy. He is a member of the Mainline collective, which has emerged in the last three years as a fresh agitator of the scene in the city of Barcelona and with whom he has had the opportunity to play at festivals such as Primavera Weekender and Soundit.

The artist is also experimenting as a producer, as in the case of ‘Dottore’, a 140bpm banger with sharp synths and female backing vocals to move the dancefloor, inspired by dosmilero sounds. “Todo lo que tu quieras’, a collaboration with Yung Prado where he sings an ode to dance and hedonism. And he has yet to see the light of day with a scheduled release on the italo-body’s flagship label, Ritmo Fatale.

Creating the imaginary character of the Italian macabre, a product of his restless imagination, Marcelo Pantani tells us: “With this list I wanted to compile a selection of tracks that represent me and that reflect the progression that I usually make during a set or a night, starting from more prog-house atmospheres and escalating in intensity and bpm’s to euro-trance rhythms”.
