Iceberg Pre Fall 2019 > Weekend in Milan

Based on Milan’s own weekend culture, James Long – Iceberg’s creative director – brings us his new Pre-Fall 2019 proposal.

Based on Milan’s own weekend culture, in which the inhabitants escape to the mountains in winter and to the sea in summer, James Long – Iceberg’s creative director – brings us his new proposal Pre-Fall 2019.

“It’s about learning how Italians live and how they mix with my London punk culture,” he says. “The story for Pre-Fall is that the Milan office works nine to five days a week and then, during the weekend, there’s a ski party in the mountains.”

Inspired by this weekend’s nomadic movement, the collection was built from sports pieces injected into Iceberg’s own vibration. The brightly coloured nylon jackets and anoraks are complemented by red and white striped motifs that Long called “twisted slaloms“, while a twill silk shirt is printed in “a blizzard of crazy graphics“.

While logos remain fundamental to the construction of brand identities, Long opted for a discreet gesture, hiding the Iceberg badge in zippered pleats on the sides of trousers or on the cuffs of sleeves. It also focused on a more sophisticated knitwear offering, mixing graphics and “dirty” elements with a sense of heavy wear, such as unfinished hems, hanging threads and a Mickey Mouse jacket embroidered in faded wool.

Tailoring is not usually the focus of Iceberg’s attention, but as this is a great trend, the designer was forced to develop it offering sporty looks and loaded with a very personal savoir faire.
