After his Hawaiian universe and “Le Papier” collection, Jacquemus returns to Parisian ground this Monday, December 12 with his new Spring-Summer 2023 collection “Le Raphia”.
The fashion show was named after the real protagonist of the collection: raffia. The humble material has given life to large hats and other XL pieces that have captured the eyes of those present. The protagonist material has also been present in garments such as coats, tops, skirts and blouses and has been combined with other materials such as denim, feathers and linen, another Jacquemus classic. The raffia not only flooded the collection but also fell from the sky, filling the catwalk and allowing guests to swim in it at the end of the show.
The beginning of the runway was a review of the brand’s codes, looking at its past in order to build forward. Marked shoulders, structured pieces, cut-outs and transparencies. What followed the show was a more contemporary side of Jacquemus. There were denim pieces, metallic jeans and sheer ensembles adorned with flowers.
The men’s side of the show was also Jacquemus’ strongest to date. And after having male references for their campaigns, as in the case of Central Cee, n
we are not surprised that the designer wants to open up to a male and unisex audience. In the end, Jacquemus’ proposal does not feel unattainable for anyone.
The event of the month did not miss a single personality. Jacquemus brought the cream of the crop from around the globe for the most anticipated show of December. Pamela Anderson made her stellar return with one of the great raffia hats presented in the collection. From the French fraction we could see the artists Aya Nakamura, SCH, Damso and also the actress Adèle Exarchopoulos, among others. Rapper Central Cee, the star of the latest Jacquemus campaign, was also present. Among them, the couple formed by Tina Kunakey and Vincent Cassel, regulars of the Fashion Weeks.
Once again, Simone Porte Jacquemus demonstrates the talent to mix past and present, creating a retro and optimistic collection where we find everywhere the DNA of its creator.
