Jacquemus presents ‘Le Chouchou’ at Versailles

Simon Porte Jacquemus has moved to Versailles to present its Fall 2023 ‘Le Chouchou’ collection on a special catwalk surrounded by nature that has once again captivated us, as the brand is accustomed to do with each fashion show.

Guest seating at this unusual presentation were boats floating on the Grand Canal of Versailles, in which we saw many familiar faces arrive such as Victoria and David Beckham, Monica Bellucci, Emily Ratajkowski, Aron Piper, Rauw Alejandro, Eva Longoria, Manu Ríos and more.

Simon Porte Jacquemus commented that it was not easy to get to parade in this exclusive location that is available to very few, only Chanel and Dior have used the Palace of Versailles before as a backdrop for their campaigns. “I was so inspired by this historic place during the design process that it led me to explore many new creative possibilities, different from my previous runway shows, but always very Jacquemus. I feel very honored and proud to be able to show there, as an independent fashion house. It will be a very special moment for Jacquemus,” explained the designer about the importance of the location for him.

Models and muses of the House walked the 400-meter runway wearing the refined designs, including celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Deva Cassel, Belluci’s daughter.

This is one of the brand’s most classic collections in terms of garment structure and color palette, while updating French traditions with full lace ensembles, large tulle and silk ruffles, colorful puffed pieces, cut outs and transparencies.

The main sources of inspiration for Jacquemus in the collection are two of the great royals of history: Marie Antoinette and Princess Diana, to whom the designer has dedicated a long series of nods. The jewelry set is an obvious reinterpretation of the jewelry worn by Lady Di, such as the famous choker of rows of pearls with a large sapphire in the middle that she wore accompanying the dress of revenge.

Delicate square-toed ballerinas on the feet complete the looks, and the House’s new bags include a gold ring handle and simplistic leather body, more refined than the fun Jacquemus accessories and cult bags that helped the brand grow at the start.
