For autumn/winter 2022, Lucie and Luke Meier continue their design philosophy for Jil Sander focused on giving people the tools and total freedom to be who they want to be. The FW22 collection respects how “we are all different and constantly changing”.
A huge light was suspended between the vaults and pillars of the American Cathedral on Avenue George V illuminating Jil Sander‘s contemporary tailoring. Symbolising “personality and individuality“, astrology prints and zodiac embroidery enveloped the collection, intensifying the hippie energy, to contrast with the stiffness of the typical blazer structure and suit trousers tucked into stiff, pointed boots.
A proposal that the pair of creative directors describe as “independent, iconic and executed with exceptional craftsmanship”. The collection focused on discovering new embroideries and weaves with more refined wools and silks to achieve different textures and visual effects. “We liked this really elegant masculine silhouette, but also with a sensual side,” said Lucie Meier after the show.
The FW22 collection presents a colour palette ranging from white to black, with details in ivory, sage, sand, cocoa, cocoa, blue, burgundy, orange, yellow and green. In addition to the coats, jackets and suits, the knitwear that invaded many of the shows that took place during Paris Fashion Week also caught the eye. The collection is completed by pointed or square boots, as well as earrings, brooches, scarves and small bags.
