Justin Bieber and H&M update: the brand has the licences

H&M has confirmed that it has the rights to sell the Bieber merchandise it withdrew after Bieber said he had not given his approval.

“Justin’s licensee has confirmed that H&M had the proper contracts in place and followed all appropriate approval procedures for each design selected,” H&M said in a statement. “Out of respect for Justin, we are removing the products from our website and shops, and are working to find the best way to make use of them,” H&M said, adding that it had been Bieber’s merchandising partner since 2016.

A week ago the artist had urged his Instagram community not to buy merchandise that had been released by H&M featuring his image and lyrics. “I didn’t approve of any of the merchandising collections that H&M has put out…It’s all been without my consent and approval (…) What H&M has done is rubbish. Don’t buy it”, was the Canadian singer in his Instagram stories. However, the chain has confirmed that it has the licenses.
