South Korea’s Jung Wook Jun has just presented his Spring/Summer 2021 collection at Paris Fashion Week. Under the name ‘SEOULSOUL’, the designer has exhibited a series of looks with clear reminiscences of his hometown: Seoul.
Focusing on the designer’s hometown, Seoul is presented to us as the benchmark for this new collection. In these turbulent times in which the new normality has not just been established, JUUN.J has presented his most personal collection online.
“When I considered how to present my SS21 collection, I found myself thinking of my hometown, the city that inspires me”, Jung wrote in an official press release. “For me, Seoul has always been too close and familiar to notice, but it has always been on my mind. There is no better place to film the collection”, he added.
Inspired by this chaotic city, Wook Jun knows how to elevate its traditional beauty. The collection features technical and structural silhouettes in a lookbook photographed by Hong Janghyun and modeled by Hyunji Shin and Taemin Park.
The key piece of the collection has been the long and voluminous khaki coat. Men’s pieces combining denim overalls and black leather coats complete the collection. For his part, the designer has introduced blazers and bomber jackets, creating a buzz around elegance and streetwear. Closing the collection, he highlights the maxi dress with shoulder pads, and the oversized blue jacket combined with cargo pants and boots. Always maintaining a subdued chromatic range, the dynamism seems to have imposed itself on SS21.
In the video you can see the designer’s reinterpretation of his game on the streets of Seoul. “SEOULSOUL”, takes us to the real track.
