“It was about how to change the order, how things are going in the body,” the creator of JW Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, began by explaining the meaning of his AW19 men’s collection presented at the Paris fashion week. “Components that are not made to go together, socks that don’t match, shoes that don’t match”.
With this disruptive spirit, the designer of the English firm showed us a collection that revealed the convulsive political moment that Great Britain is living, with the claws of Brexit already showing. A moment that the designer sees full of absurd confrontations and hostile political sides.
Hence a leopard shoe along with a plain one. Or winter puffer jackets to the feet along with fresh summer shorts – although at this point, what is summer and what is for winter? Medieval helmet style hoods together with the purest 80’s pop style dresses… And an endless number of combinations that put the Irish designer at the top of originality and fun at the cost of today’s political chaos.
