Inspired by the Kentucky Derby, Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov’s spring collection is much lighter and more colorful than the previous one. It transforms equestrian aesthetics through a retro-futuristic update. Jockey racing suits are re-interpreted into intelligent graphic ensembles, while jerseys, jackets and tunics in gold, light green, turquoise and apricot combined with contrasting panels.
Kiko Kostadinov reinvents himself again.
The finalist designer of the 2019 LVMH Award loves to face new challenges each season. “I like to be unpredictable and we choose a new direction each season in the studio. I’ve added so many things I haven’t done before [in the new collection], so much color, color combinations, silhouettes and prints as well.”
Kostadinov also presented the two new footwear collaborations with Camper and Asics. On the one hand Camper’s high leather riding boots, with a curved silhouette, combine perfectly with jackets and shorts, while on the other hand his fifth collaboration with Asics includes a model in which the chessboard relief connects directly with Jockey racing suits,
“The silhouettes are completely new. I am the first person who can actually make a sole unit. We spent around a year and half to help develop this. For a big company like Asics to invent for us, it’s a big deal,” he said.
