Kiko Kostadinov has positioned himself among one of the best designers in the last year. Taking advantage of the constraints and new guidelines set by the pandemic, the London designer has put the focus on digital. Thus, he has colonized the networks and digital catwalks to show all his collections. Now it is the turn of his AW21 ready-to-wear proposal that takes us to a utopian universe dominated by retro-futurism.
Laura and Deanna Fanning, the twins in charge of the creative direction of Kiko Kostadinov’s women’s line, have just presented their latest proposal for AW21. They also tell us how the pandemic has shaped the course of the fashion house.
“Winter brought a lot of the Covid delays that we didn’t experience during the summer,”says Laura, with samples arriving as late as last Monday – “we only had a day to do all the styling.” says Laura. However, despite the difficulties, the Fanning sisters seem to have come out of the situation with flying colors. They channeled their emotions and transmitted them to the garments as a whole.
The pillars of the collection are based on futuristic style garments, dreamlike and psychedelic prints and suggestive shapes. In contrast, we find more classic silhouettes such as trench coats or polo shirts. The result is a suggestive proposal that denotes the firm’s unquestionable savoir faire combined with a desire for artistic vindication. Open shoulders, black satin dresses, hypnotic circles? Immerse yourself in this journey through time and travel to the future without losing sight of the horizon.
