Kay Kwok surprises in FW23 with a futuristic collection supported by artificial intelligence, with a chrome body extension and the appearance of Fecal Matter.
Celebrating the tenth anniversary of the KWK by Kay Kwok, the director presents his Fall/Winter London FW23 collection inspired by the future through chrome body extensions composed of metallic accessories. Kay Kwok interprets the year 2100 as a setting in which avatars inhabit the darkness of The Earth.
The story stars LALA, the main avatar. Kwok draws inspiration from future decades that have not yet existed, so he manages to get rid of the limitations we know when designing for the present as we know it. The avatars in this story represent the values, ethics and stories we see in the real world we inhabit. In addition, the firm uses artificial intelligence through the AI generator ChatGPT with the sound production company Darya.
Kwok only had four days to prepare his fashion show, and despite the challenge, the result was a success. The collection is defined as futuristic and imaginative. Under the title “LOUDER”, which means to live taller and love yourself more, Kwok brings us a collection that aims to make people love themselves more by appealing to security in a world where exposure is becoming more and more frightening. To reinforce the message, the designer had a very inclusive casting.
And speaking of London Fashion Week… Have you seen the JW Anderson show?
