‘LET’S TALK ABOUT CLOTHES’ by Prada is pure minimalist futurism

Entitled ‘LET’S TALK ABOUT CLOTHES’, Prada’s FW 23 collection focuses on a futuristic universe reminiscent of the 1960s.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presented yesterday their proposal for the FW23 season. Entitled ‘LET’S TALK ABOUT CLOTHES’, the collection focuses on a futuristic universe reminiscent of the 60s.

In keeping with its elegant and functional spirit, Prada unveiled a selection of essential pieces where minimalism had nothing to do with simplicity. Open shirts with stand-out collars, square-cut blazers, knitted cardigans, suede jackets and bomber jackets in classic colours were some of the highlights of the show.

However, all eyes were drawn to the quilted morphology jackets and waistcoat, made of the highest quality cotton and in keeping with the invitation to the show: a pillow and pillowcase.

Finally, the house’s new leather bag made its way into most of the outfits thanks to its wide variety of shades and glossy finishes.

“This collection is about archetypal garments, about taking the recognisable but changing it through silhouette and cut: its formal language is transformed. It is also about the DNA of the house, garments embedded with fragments of an identity we can recognise. They are unmistakable and meaningful gestures, towards the heritage and history of the brand, and towards the meaning of Prada now,” says Simons.

For her part, Miuccia states, “We always talk about reality, and we, as designers, are very aware of what is happening, of the problems, of the difficulties. It’s a complicated moment in the world, and we react to it. The most honest thing we can do is to create something useful for people today: to face reality and frame the idea of our reality through clothes. We want to create fashion with a meaning and a sense: that’s the value of fashion today”.
