Light and shadows in Balmain’s FW22 campaign

Balmain by Oliver Rousteing is heading to a futuristic dystopia for next season with his latest Autumn/Winter 2022 campaign.

Balmain by Oliver Rousteing is heading to a futuristic dystopia for next season with his latest Autumn/Winter 2022 campaign.

Shot in a quarry, the campaign features models dressed in black and white outfits. The warm-toned earth along with a square green pit with stairs are the best backdrop to present the collection. Trousers, waistcoats, fitted skirts, blouses and more are featured with details such as elasticated straps, cut-out stripes and seamless leather.

What stands out most about Balmain’s FW22 campaign is its depiction of light and dark as a form of safety. “We don’t need to be helpless in the face of toxic accumulations, if we can rely on individual honesty, collective empathy and shared hopes for progress,” Rousteing said of how to approach the future.

Selected garments from Balmain’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection are now available on the brand’s website.
