LVMH teams up with Epic Games to develop immersive experiences with 3D technology

LVMH will expand its collaboration with Epic Games to implement new immersive experiences with 3D technology such as virtual fitting rooms or 360° product carousels in its luxury fashion houses.

The group, which includes Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi among others, will use Epic’s 3D creation tools, which houses Reality Capture, Twinmotion and MetaHuman, along with Unreal, to enable high-end Maisons to establish stronger identities in the expanding virtual domains. They will be able to develop virtual fitting rooms and fashion shows, 360° product carousels, AR-driven experiences and digital twins, and many other digital-first initiatives.

“The partnership with Epic Games will accelerate our expertise in 3D tools and ecosystems, from the creation of new collections to advertising campaigns and websites for our maisons. We will also engage more effectively with the younger generations, who are very comfortable with these codes and uses,” said Antonio Belloni, the LVMH group CEO.

Bill Clifford, vice president of Unreal Engine at Epic Games, added: “With this collaboration, we will work with LVMH designers to transform the creation of physical and digital products using Epic’s advanced creation toolset. We are excited to accelerate the group’s adoption of Unreal Engine, Reality Capture, Twinmotion and MetaHuman technology, and help LVMH’s global brands engage with customers through immersive digital experiences.”

Bulgari is one of the brands already using Epic’s suite to create experiences with its tools; a few months ago it unveiled its Ancient Rome-inspired Metaverse produced with Unreal Engine 5.
