This weekend art invades the capital to make us travel beyond reality. From 24 to 27 February, Madrid is once again opening its doors to the best fairs, galleries and street art, where you can discover new artists and enjoy the biggest names on the international contemporary art scene. We tell you everything that’s happening in the city so you don’t miss a thing.
From the HIGHXTAR. team we present you the different artistic proposals that Madrid is hosting this weekend for you to explore the freshest languages, discover the different aesthetic codes and find the new trends in the art world. More than thirty events will be present to reflect, as they do every year, current artistic trends, maintaining freshness and innovation in each presentation.
One of the essential dates in Madrid’s art week is to visit the Arco fair, where you will find the best international contemporary art, and Urvanity, the only one in Spain dedicated entirely to new contemporary art. Also, don’t miss Art Madrid at the Galería de Cristal del Palacio Cibeles and Just Mad at the Palacio Neptuno. Some of the figures present are Donna Huanca, Olafur Eliasson, Lusesita and many more.
In terms of galleries we have WE COLLECT, the project of Enrique del Río and Amaia de Meñaka, which was born as the first collectors’ club in the country. El Chico is hosting the first solo exhibition of Amaya Suberviola; Veta Gallery, the largest art gallery in the city where you can enjoy the ceramics of Julio Galindo, the photos of Stillz and the works of Brendan Lynch, Juan de Dios Morenilla, Cristina Lama, Atanda Quadri Adebayo and Santiago Ydáñez.
This weekend you can also visit the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, which has hosted internationally renowned figures such as Banksy, Keith Haring and Vhils, along with other national figures, both established and young promises, such as Mario Mankey, Muelle, Sabek and Albert Pinya. These pieces are joined by four artists promoted under the patronage of the Foundation, namely El Rey de la Ruina, Estudio Pedrita, Juan Díaz-Faes and Queen Andrea.
