Martine Rose x Nike Football claim inclusivity on-field

The British designer takes to the soccer field to dilute gender barriers and masculinized archetypes with a disruptive collection in collaboration with the swoosh brand.

Martine Rose x Nike Football claim inclusivity on-field

Martine Rose promotes inclusion on the soccer field with a new series that showcases soccer apparel ethically and aesthetically in sync with the current era, as well as three new colorways of its iconic Shox Mule MR 4 inspired by the vibrant goalkeeper jerseys of the 1990s.

The British-Jamaican creative breaks into this sport often linked to homophobic and racist practices, and / or the exclusion of certain groups to the marginal sphere, to propose representative and inclusive pieces with which she reinvestigates the proportions, silhouettes and surprising textures through fluid references to subcultural contexts.

Rose re-explores the concept of traditional masculinity through an exciting vision, shared with Nike’s approach in an official collaboration inspired by female soccer players and traditional genderless tailoring, combined in a single expression of freedom that opens the door to the next generation of female soccer fans and players.

The collection emulates the players’ transitional locker rooms from “off the plane” to “on the field,” as a prolonged act that extends from pre-game preparation to game immersion to an exciting fashion team wearing colorful striped jerseys with custom soccer patches, suits adorned with slight slits, swoosh embroidery on the chest, or trench coats incorporating extra sleeves.

If we put the focus of the camp on the footwear, we can see how the capsule presents a second installment of the Nike Shox Mule MR 4 that he already unveiled in his last runway show. Three vibrant iterations designed in color gradients ranging from blue to purple or yellow to orange, channeling the aesthetic of 90’s goalie jerseys.

The Martine Rose x Nike Football collection will be released via the Martine Rose website on July 25, and at Nike SNKRS and select retailers on July 27.
