Messi’s photo gets more likes than the egg on Instagram

Leo Messi has just won another title in addition to that of world champion: that of photo with the most ‘likes’ on Instagram.

The image posted on 18 December by the footballer, in which he is seen holding Argentina’s World Cup trophy, has surpassed 57 million likes in just 48 hours. His post has dethroned the one that had held the record for almost four years, by far outstripping the rest of its rivals: the world record egg or @world_record_egg, with 56 million.

On 4 January 2019, the @world_record_egg account uploaded its only post to date: the image of an egg, accompanied by text that read “let’s set a new world record together and get the post with the most ‘likes’ on Instagram, beating Kylie Jenner’s current record (18 million). And so it was. Now, the footballer is once again number 1.
