Midwest meets punk with Palm Angels | FW18

Maren H. Anscheidt |  NY // “Being rebellious is always a part of my collections, but I think this time there’s a really interesting mix, a different perspective” – Ragazzi.

That indeed, when the American Midwest is merged with an underground London-esque punk scene you better believe this is what the crowd would be sporting. Ragazzi’s latest collection shown at a former lightbulb factory, could easily be described in three words, bold, rebellious and intimidating, and I’m sure that is what those up-close and personal with the looks felt themselves. American Gothic, a painting by Grant Wood, was a firm component in many looks, where the painting itself repeatedly presented itself warped around trousers and free-flowing dresses.

From spiked balaclavas and bubblegum pink PVC to western shirts and trousers, the label kept it true to it’s beginnings in including tracksuit pieces to ease the eyes between the heavy Punk Americana.

Palm Angels (@palmangelsalso kept it streetwear-savvy ticking off all the ‘now hyped’ boxes with puffer vests, embellished loafer/slippers, coats where tags remain pinned, tracksuit bases and trendy office-wear. One might not be so daring as to purchase an uncut fit, but it is safe to say these individual pieces will turn heads. #musthave
