Making visually interesting clothes is no longer enough and the MM6 Maison Margiela team knows it. For this reason, this time has opted for the vindication inspired by the archive.
For its SS19 collection, many of Margiela’s archival items were rescued: photographic prints on white jersey dresses, satin and shiny fabrics that were accompanied by subversive cuts and even some literal prints by Martin Margiela.
“There is more action to be done to fight AIDS than to wear this T-shirt but it’s a good start” was printed on bags, dresses and jackets in homage to Margiela’s classic 1994 t-shirt, which supported the French charity AIDES that fights AIDS and works with the people who live with it. The most striking is that 24 years after its first release, the print and message had the same importance as then.
MM6 Maison Margiela: Ready-To-Wear SS19
A mix of Rock’n’Roll with Victorian aesthetics that was mixed with a unique palette of colours such as purple, light lavender or pistachio green. A proposal of contradictions that unites everything that no one could imagine and that is only within the reach of MM6 (@mm6maisonmargiela).
