For the summer season, the company is relaunching its original Air Rift that so captivated the Japanese streetwear scene.
Nike reintroduces the Air Rift silhouette in its original black and green colourway, just in time for the summer season. The shoe, which was inspired by Kenyan runners and named after the Great Rift Valley, the great geographical fracture that runs from Lebanon to Mozambique, is known for its unique split-toe shoe/sandal design, making it one of the most visually distinct options in Nike‘s line.
Originally released in the US and Europe, the Air Rift gained popularity in Japan and became a hit in the streetwear scene of Harajukum, Tokyo’s quirkiest neighbourhood. Over the years, Nike has collaborated with celebrities like Halle Berry and released new updated silhouettes like the Air Rift Breathe. However, this new release brings back the original design for the purists.
