If you have not yet been able to see the exhibition “Balenciaga. La elegancia del sombrero”, you have until 3 October to marvel at the creations and designs of Master Balenciaga at the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona.
“Balenciaga. The elegance of the hat” is the first international exhibition in the world to focus on the hats and headdresses of the designer Cristóbal. These were created in the House’s millinery departments in Paris and Madrid from the late 1930s until their closure in 1968.
Eighty-seven hats are on display in the exhibition, seventy-eight of which are presented individually, nine with an ensemble and one dress with stole. Forty-three are from the collection of the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona and the other forty-four from the collection of the Museo Cristóbal Balenciaga.
In addition, the temporary exhibition contemplates generic environmental sustainability criteria such as: flexibility and adaptability. “Balenciaga. The elegance of the hat” will also be on display at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria from October 2021.
