Between the neighbourhood of La Latina in Madrid, El Rocío in Andalusia and the streets of New York, ‘TALANQUERA’, the first single from ODDLIQUOR’s forthcoming EP, is born. An electronic pop song, with influences of hip hop, gospel and the heritage of his Andalusian roots, which defines in its entirety the unconditional and genuine way of loving. TALANQUERA’ is the song that Marcos has had the hardest time writing, as he states in the lyrics, and an honest song full of feelings in which he opens his heart and leaves everything he has inside out in the open.
This is the new era of ODDLIQUOR, who leaves behind his previous work, ‘Blindao’, not only musically but also emotionally, and decides to share with his fans the honest and pure feelings that are felt when true love arrives, in a song that will become an anthem. “TALANQUERA was born from sitting in El Rocío (Huelva), in a place that I didn’t know it was called that, until a local person told me about it and I thought it was an attractive and very strong word. As strong as the subject itself, which is born of a very intense internal war of losing hope and believing that all was lost in love until an angel appears and becomes, from the beginning, your other half. It took me about two months to write the song, because I had to go very slowly. I wanted each phrase to be heavy, to really reflect what I was feeling”.
“So it was complicated because of that, and because at the same time I was living that story in real time with her and I couldn’t dedicate as much time as I wanted to write it. I haven’t released any music for many months, waiting for this moment and the beginning of a new stage that I think is going to be amazing. All the years working in music – more than ten – have brought me to this point, and I’m here for a reason. I’m very conscious of the place I’m in and I’m not going to waste it. I feel I still have a lot to contribute to music, and I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than with this very special song that means so much to me”.
The release is accompanied by an audiovisual piece that represents the first chapter of the story and the universe created by ‘Un Conjuro’ and ‘Phoski Films’: the story of a military man burdened with guilt in a constant struggle with his past, who manages to free himself through music and love. ODDLIQUOR begins with this release his most international stage after signing with ‘Interscope Records’, one of the most prominent labels in the music industry worldwide and home to artists such as Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Gyal and Karol G, among many others.
