Off-White evolves and takes a new direction

Off-White unveil their Spring 22 collection entitled “Sticks & Stones”, designed before the death of founder Virgil Abloh.

Leaving behind all the fashion week editions, today Monday 7 February is the day to focus on the Ready To Wear Spring 22 collection presented by Off-White, the first without Virgil Abloh. Sad but true.

Relating this last one with the previous one, “Laboratory of fun” and with the concept that Abloh brought in his day about what O.W. meant to him, we can see how the brand specialising in urban clothing has undergone a great evolution, which was one of the designer’s wishes, that it wouldn’t remain stagnant. Well Virgil, you can be sure that the brand’s new design team and the New Guards group (in charge of productions) have managed to make sure that what you would never wish for doesn’t happen, as they have found the perfect balance.

Designed before his death and christened “Sticks & Stones”, this latest collection pays homage to more adult life while celebrating childhood and youthful play. A glance at the collection shows how the simple lines have taken centre stage, especially in the workwear, but also how the logos have disappeared or are in the background, as in the case of the bodysuits, where the famous “Off” still appears, or on the tracksuit bottoms.

In some cases we can also see how the sexy touch and the “Y2K” aesthetic are present in some of the looks, for example in the tie-dye ensembles and those composed of cap, crop jacket with zip and leggings combined with boots or in the mini-dresses with straps combined with long-sleeved mesh tops with slits on the chest. The finishing touch was provided by puffed caps and knee-high heeled boots (some in cowboy style) paired with medium and large leather bags.

What do you think of the new path Off-White is taking, do you prefer this one or the previous one?
