New York City-based Helmut Lang has announced the appointment of Peter Do as its new creative director.
Since launching his eponymous label in 2018, Peter Do has quickly established himself as a rising star within the industry for his elevated tailoring and an updated take on workwear. Do’s label is known for its minimalist aesthetic, which typically focuses a black and white colour palette with the occasional splash of colour. As such, Do’s appointment to rework Helmut Lang‘s signature minimalist fundamentals is more than logical.
“No one embodied radical thinking more definitively than Helmut Lang. It is a great honour to be entrusted with starting the next chapter of Helmut Lang’s legacy,” said Do, “I am excited to learn from the foundations on which this house stands and to continue to create energetic new clothes that inspire people to challenge their understanding of what is possible when it comes to expressing their individuality.” Peter Do will begin his role as creative director on Monday 15 May and the first debut collection will take place during New York Fashion Week in September.
