Pierpaolo Piccioli has unveiled his own version of the Moncler Maya as part of the brand’s 70th anniversary celebration. Valentino creative director has reconstructed the classic Moncler puffer jacket, opting for a couture aesthetic without sacrificing the jacket’s original silhouette.
The down coat is essentially made of quilted down-filled panels knotted together at each corner. It is a technique that leaves gaps between each puffy panel, making the coat more a work of art than a functional winter garment.
The Maya 70 collaborations have unveiled 7 unique and inimitable designs that represent Moncler’s DNA. In addition to Pierpaolo Piccioli, Moncler has chosen Thom Browne, Hiroshi Fujiwara for FRGMT, Rick Owens, Francesco Ragazzi for Palm Angels, Giambattista Valli and Pharrell Williams for the reinventions of the Maya 70 down. Pharrell will be the last guest at the Moncler party, so we will have to wait a bit for his design to be unveiled.
