The Pirelli x RHUDE collection marks the first official collaboration between the two brands, and while surprising, yes, it makes perfect sense in Rhuigi Villaseñor’s universe. Rhude has worked before with automotive giants such as Lamborghini & McLaren, building an identity in which motor culture is an important pillar.
Composed of 13 pieces, the capsule exudes racing spirit from the first glance. Oversized T-shirts, hoodies and pit-lane jackets feature capitalized graphics, checkered flags and embroidered laurels. Everything harkens back to the glory of the podium, but from an urban, American and uncompromising look. The Rhude aesthetic code is mixed here with the iconic Pirelli colors: black, red and yellow.
The signature touch is not missing: the short Rhude logo, reinterpreted in technical fabrics and panels that dialogue with the runway as much as with the contemporary men’s closet. Neither are the accessories, such as caps with classic motorsport motifs, which elevate what might appear to be merchandise to the category of object of desire.
“This collection celebrates what it means to be a champion. To strive. To achieve what you dream of. To be first in what your heart desires,” explains Rhuigi Villaseñor, founder and creative director of Rhude. His phrase may seem textbook, but in the context of this collaboration, and especially in the designer’s universe, the race is also personal, cultural, symbolic.
