The festival, which will take place from 30 June to 2 July at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, has confirmed the new line-up for Saturday. Molotov, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Muerdo, ZOO and Ciudad Jara will share the bill that day with Residente and Rayden.
In the days before, the public will be able to enjoy two of the most famous Madrilenians: Dani Martín, who will perform on Thursday, and C. Tangana, who, together with the musical phenomenon of the year, Tanxugueiras, complete the Friday line-up, while waiting for more names for the ambitious new edition of Rio Babel.
Molotov, the most international Mexican rock band, will be celebrating more than 26 years of career in style at the Madrid event. There will be no shortage of their great songs, fires of words that portray different social problems with satire and irony. The group, who have not released an album for more than five years, are working on new songs for 2022.
On the other hand, Fat Freddy’s Drop, the great musical “ambassadors” of New Zealand, will present a unique, wild and visually powerful live show; the album WAIRUNGA, the evolution of their characteristic style that fuses reggae with other rhythms such as jazz, soul or techno. The band, founded in 1999 by the charismatic DJ Fitchie, will display on stage all their instrumental artillery with the unique voice of Joe Dukie.
Querbeat is one of Germany’s most entertaining bands. A brass pop band originally from Bonn, their appearances on television and their presence at the main German and European festivals have made them one of the most popular artists in their country and they will be coming to the festival to make us all dance.
As for the new national confirmations, Ciudad Jara, Pablo Sánchez‘s project after La Raíz, will unveil his new album ‘Cinema’; inspired by the cinematic universe with songs that renew the concept of singer-songwriter music. Muerdo, the great voice of our time, will present ‘Flores, Viento y Fuego’, a review of his best songs together with national and international collaborators who have marked his career.
ZOO, the confirmation of Gandía with international repercussion that mixes rap, electronic music and Latin rhythms with lyrics of high social content will also complete the most “combative” day of the festival with their album ‘Llepolies’, together with two heavyweights of songs with a message; Residente and Rayden, who also bring urban music to very diverse audiences.
Rio Babel is just that: national and international creative diversity, strength, music, dance and fire. This 2022, Madrid will burn.
