The famed tennis player and Jonathan Anderson’s label will collaborate on a collection that combines Federer’s athletic legacy with JW Anderson’s distinctive design codes. Although this is their first joint collaboration, both Federer and JW Anderson have had previous individual collaborations with Uniqlo in previous years. Federer has been a brand ambassador since 2018, while Anderson has worked with Uniqlo since 2017, creating capsules for both men and women.
The Swiss tennis player said: “I have always wanted to have a collection that is perfect for playing tennis and, at the same time, versatile for other parts of everyday life”. On his collaboration with Anderson, he added: “I feel fortunate that Jonathan shares this vision. Together we have created a stylish and comfortable line inspired by classic tennis style. Jonathan is talented, creative and down-to-earth. It has been a pleasure working with him on this collection.”
The capsule includes nine gender-neutral pieces, with a variety of polos, sweaters, shorts, parkas and a gym bag. The garments are designed with Uniqlo’s Dry Ex material, which allows the wearer to stay dry and cool. The collection will also feature a crew neck sweater in blue and black with color blocking, a zip-up fleece jacket and a white sporty set with navy, green and white piping details.
Anderson stated about the collaboration, “When I was first approached to create a collection with Roger, I remember feeling very happy and excited. That’s because I was very influenced by watching Roger play. Thinking a lot about what LifeWear means to all the people who admire Roger, we designed a collection that can be worn in a match, for a classic look or also to go around town. We have something that feels elevated, and it’s something timeless.”
The Roger Federer x JW Anderson Uniqlo capsule will be available in Uniqlo stores and online from August 28, with prices ranging between $39.90 to $89.90 USD.
On the other hand, Snoop Dogg has designed a Skechers collection.
