ROSALÍA fuses reggaeton with Japanese influences in “TUYA”

ROSALÍA premieres her single “TUYA”, which comes with a music video directed by Stillz and filmed in Japan.

It is no secret that the culture and aesthetics of Japan are one of the main sources of inspiration in many of ROSALÍA’s latest works.

In her latest track, the artist experiments with the Japanese national string instrument, the koto. “Exploring is part of who I am as a musician and in the case of TUYA inspirations such as reggaeton, Japanese instruments, flamenco and gabber techno coexist at the same level,” she told in a statement.

“Japan makes me want to move slowly, with delicacy”, says ROSALÍA, “It’s beautiful no matter where you look at it. I admire the dedication they put into the little things: everything inspires me. Absolutely everything is a ritual. The music video was shot entirely in Japan as a love letter to the country for which she feels so much love and respect, and is directed by Stillz, with whom she has worked on several occasions.

Gen Z is officially dominated by girlbosses.
