Reebok and basketball star Montrezl Harrell (also known as Trezz), present the Kamikaze II, an iconic 1995 original shoe worn by legendary former player Shawn Kemp, which now returns to celebrate its 25th anniversary in a new premium execution that retains all of its original details.
To celebrate this anniversary, the brand turned to illustrator Peter Richter (better known as Floppy Action) to explain Trezz’s history when he visited Reebok’s Boston facility and historical archive in the spring of 2020. During the visit, as shown in the storyboard, Trezz appears with the new Kamikaze II, a silhouette that comes with a high-contrast black and white combination and a striking zigzag design that flows from the midsole to the top.
“There’s a great story behind this shoe that certainly pays tribute to the Reebok brand,” says Harrell. “What attracts me most is the people who wore it before me. It’s an amazing shoe that you can wear both on and off the court.”
The Kamikaze II became a milestone in basketball shoes because of its blunt and transgressive design. Inspired by the spirit of Mobius, the Kamikaze II was launched in the fall of 1995 as a follow-up to Shawn Kemp’s first exclusive shoe, the Kamikaze, and was designed to emulate the unprecedented intensity and explosiveness of the legendary former basketball player.
25 years later, the Kamikaze II returns fully energized thanks to one of the best basketball players of the moment and an off-court style icon, Montrezl Harrell.
Kamikaze II 25th Anniversary is available from today June 25th at a price of 129.95€ at www.reebok.es.
