The Balmain Pre-Fall 2024 collection is inspired by Miami

Olivier Rousteing last visited Miami more than 10 years ago, but the feeling of an “endless summer” still seduces him to this day, so much so that this concept has been the main inspiration for Balmain’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection. The creative director drew references from his Spring 2013 collection, which was also inspired by the city. The capsule is inspired by the pastel palette of the Florida capital, the art deco aesthetic and the Elba villa that the house’s founder, Pierre Balmain, commissioned from Leonardo Ricci.

For Rousteing, this collection is 100% Balmain, in an interview with Vogue he said: “There are some [collections] where I move away from the aesthetic of the house, and there are some when I fill up. This one is full! There’s a lot of joy and a lot of confidence. And at a time when there’s seemingly a lot of quiet luxury, we shouldn’t forget that maybe not everyone just wants a camel cashmere turtleneck.”

Throughout the collection, pastel coloured bags complement the coats and touches of teal and yellow contrast with the black and white ensembles. Palm trees play an important role in defining the line’s illustrative personality. The logo briefcases set the Miami cityscape as a backdrop, and stripes are part of the print. Overall, it’s a line for those who have one last summer stop in Miami in store.

Balmain’s collection is stolen days before its Paris Fashion Week show.
