The series about the life of the designer “Kaiser Karl” will premiere later this year on Disney +, starring Daniel Brühl.
More than a year ago the first news came out about the upcoming Disney + series that will capture Karl Lagerfeld’s career in the fashion industry in Paris in the sixties. We now have some more information: German Hispanic actor Daniel Brühl will play the role of Lagerfeld. The original series is currently being shot in France, Monaco and Italy by the Gaumont company.
The six-part series directed by Jérôme Salle will portray the designer’s rivalry with Yves Saint Laurent, his love story with Jacques de Bascher, and “the epic parties and decadence” that the iconic designer experienced, among other adventures in his personal and professional life. There are more than 2,200 extras, 40 different sets and 3,000 costumes (of which 160 will be created from scratch) that Disney will include in “Kaiser Karl.”
Other talents on the set of this new series include Théodore Pellerin playing Jacques de Bascher, Arnaud Valois as Yves Saint Laurent, Alex Lutz as Pierre Bergé, and Agnès Jaoui as Chloé founder Gaby Aghion.
In case you missed it, Quentin Tarantino announces his new project: a miniseries.
