The Paraboot Michael is one of the few leather shoes with a recognisable and distinctive silhouette. At 80 years since its creation, Paraboot celebrates its history with the campaign “Some Things Never Change“, which presents eight models that showcase the Michael’s evolution over the decades.

Since its birth in 1945, the Michael drew inspiration from Alpine tradition, particularly the shoes of the Tyrol region. The iconic moc-toe, wide and durable, features Norwegian or Goodyear stitching depending on the model. This is not merely an aesthetic detail; Paraboot designed it to ensure the shoe lasts and withstands daily use.

Its appearance, with a flattened toe that breaks conventional leather shoe design, gives it versatility. The Michael works as a work shoe that can also be dressed up. Its design has influenced many subsequent models.

Although it has always attracted a niche audience, collaborations with brands such as Engineered Garments and YMC reinforced its relevance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Michael’s popularity grew thanks to style guides and content that made it more accessible.

Today, at 80 years old, the Michael remains relevant. LYST recorded it as the ninth most searched item in the first quarter of 2025. It is not a classic that adapts to trends; culture caught up with it.
